DEUTSCH: Das Theater, in dem noch heute alljährlich Opernaufführungen und Konzerte stattfinden, bietet in 39 Sitzreihen Platz für 20.000 Zuschauer. Der Bau wurde im 2. Jh. n. Chr. errichtet. Da die Seltschuken das Theater im Mittelalter als Karavanserei nutzten, wurde es fortwährend repariert. Das erklärt seinen Erhaltungszustand. Die Wasserversorgung der Stadt wurde durch noch heute zum Teil hervorragend erhaltene Reste eine Aquäduktes sichergestellt. Das Wasser wurde aus dem Taurusgebirge über die nördliche Ebene der Stadt zugeführt. Wenn man im Theater sitzt kann man die erstklassige Akkustik geniessen. Auch ist das Theater sehr gut erhalten.Zweimal in der Woche sind dort Aufführungen, die sollte man unbedingt besuchen! Ob Theater oder Musikalische Darbietungen, alles ist einen Besuch wert.
ENGLISH: The best-known attraction among the ruins of Aspendos is the great theater, an amazingly well preserved vestige of Roman architecture that may be as impressive as Rome's own Colosseum. The ancient region of Anatolia makes up most of central Turkey and its folklore has shaped much of the country’s wider culture and customs. And this world-famous show tells you the story of its past through the medium of dance. Featuring the incredible ‘Fire of Anatolia’ dance troupe, it’s Turkey’s answer to Riverdance.
